Clyde Neville Garmon was born in Alabama in 1891.  He attended the Birmingham Medical College and graduated in 1914.  He was a member of the medical college’s Athletic Association, football team, and the medical fraternity, Delta Omicron Alpha.  Following graduation, Dr. Garmon practiced industrial medicine in Bessemer, Alabama, and served on the staff of the Lloyd Noland Hospital in Fairfield.  Dr. Garmon died in Fairfield on May 6, 1960.

The Birmingham Medical College was established in 1894 by Drs. W.E.B. and J.D.S. Davis as a privately owned medical school. The college operated in cooperation with Hillman Hospital for several years. In September 1912, the trustees of the medical college transferred all lands, buildings, equipment and franchises to the trustees of the University of Alabama. The school was gradually closed, allowing the students to finish their education in Birmingham. The school closed its doors in 1915.
