Beginning May 5, sections of the first floor of Mervyn Sterne Library will be periodically inaccessible while the carpet is replaced. Installation is projected to conclude by the end of the month.
The center staircase, classrooms, study rooms and the UAB Writing Center will first be completed, followed by the main floor area, beginning in the southwestern-most sections and proceeding toward the front entrance.
A path will be available at all times to elevators and restrooms, and both the stacks and UAB Libraries-owned study spaces on the third floor will remain accessible. Access to the HUB Desk and the LibLab @ Sterne also will not be interrupted.
Some services, such as access to the laptop and battery rental kiosks, vending machines and printers, may be limited or unavailable for the duration.
