The mission of the UAB Libraries Office of Scholarly Communication (OSC) is to support UAB faculty, staff, and students in navigating and understanding scholarly communication principles including copyright, long-term preservation of digital assets, research data management (RDM), research dissemination, scholarly impact, and public access.
The OSC’s services include:
- Copyright, RDM and other one-on-one consultations
- On-demand workshops on copyright, RDM, and scholarly communication topics
- Email support for faculty, staff, and students
- Helping authors understand their publishing agreements
- Advising on copyright compliance for online courses
- Assisting in setting up ORCID iDs and SCOPUS iDs
- Supporting Open Education (OE) and Affordable Instructional Materials (AIM)
- Performing data interviews and assistance preparing Data Management Plans (DMPs)
- Advising on data repository selection
